Whole-House Surge Protection

It's important to protect all your electronic devices, not just computers, from surges. Printers, televisions, appliances and computers peripherals all require protection. However, it can be inconvenient to use individual surge protectors on all devices that need protection. One solution is to install a whole-house surge protector as shown in this photo. The device is installed by an electrician and its attached to your circuit breaker panel. Whole-house surge protectors function like other surge protection devices, but they protect all electrical devices in the house all at once. The typical cost of $200 to $300 (installed) is generally less than buying individual surge protectors for every electrical device in your home.

Posting Anonymous is it a Blessing or a Curse?

There is a million different ways to use the Internet this day in age, a few ways in particular are for individual or personal bases. There are certain Internet sites that focus on just posting and blogging and can be created by one individual. The privilege of being able to post anonymously on these particular sites could be looked at as a blessing or a curse. Whether or not you look at it as a blessing or a curse really comes down to personal opinion.

Being able to post on a particular Internet site anonymously could be a blessing because it could help people come forth with an honest opinion if know their name is not being used. There is no fear of repercussion or fear of being judged by others. Remaining anonymous on an Internet site could also have it benefits for a teenager who might have questions about puberty, problems at school, or even sex, and they do not feel comfortable enough to go to their parents about it. They can remain anonymous on a certain site and get the questions answered for them without the embarassment of other people finding out they had these questions. People also post their personal opinions of a subject that could also lead to confrentation in school or home. If you are posting your opinion anonymously than this type of confrentation could be avoided because it can not be linked back to you.

The negative side to remaining anonymous on the Internet is a person does not have to be responsible for anything they post if their name is not known. A particular person could post a website based on personal opinion and not actual facts which in turn could put a persons life in danger. For example the teenager I mentioned before looking for answers to puberty, problems at school,or even sex, could come across a website that is listed with ones personal opinion and not actual facts and be given the wrong advise. This could possibly lead to the teenager puting their own life in danger. Which leads me to my next example if someone is searching the Internet for answers to an over the counter medication they might need to take and the website they are visiting was set up by an anonymous user rather than a drug administration this could put that persons life in danger. That is when the Internet could be a scary place if someone did not know the difference on what websites to look at.

My opinion on the subject would be anonymous posting could be both a blessing or a curse. I am the type of person that if I know that I can not be judged on a certain opinion I will be more forthcoming on how i really feel. As much as we don't like to admit the world is a very judgemental place and we protect ourselves from embarassment so I enjoy being able to post my thoughts anonymously and know there wont be a particular close friend or relative judging me about it. The negative aspect of posting anonymously is the particular people who take being anonymous to far because they know they wont be responsible for their actions. Finding a website that is based on someones opinon could be very dangerous.

Even though you can download the software from the Web site, you should also consider purchasing (for an additional fee) the software on DVD. This will make reinstalling the software much easier in the future in case you have a problem (such as you hard drive fails).
